URBAN DESIGN:
NATIONAL STADIUM EXTENSION TOWARDS COMMONWEALTH GAMES DELH '10
A design vision of renewing the Central Delhi for Urban Design Studio which presented
academic design proposals towards Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010.
The Vision
National Stadium, existing stadium on Central Axis, Lutyens Delhi was being renovated
for Commonwealth Games '10 and our vision aimed at three goals:
To renew the concept of an Axis between the two natural resources of Delhi
(Central Ridge and River Yamuna) as conceptualized by Edwin Lutyens.
A Heritage walkway to link the existing monuments with proposed spaces.
Development in terms of recreational, social, cultural and institutional spaces with
landscaping making it a complete ublic place.
